Analysis and application of shipborne depth data for enhancing marine bathymetric mapping
Author(s): Markus Müller and Claudia Bauer
Abstract: Bathymetric mapping is essential for various marine activities, including navigation, resource exploration, and environmental monitoring. This review paper critically examines existing literature on the analysis and application of shipborne depth data in enhancing marine bathymetric mapping. It provides a comparative analysis of traditional and current methodologies, highlighting the evolution of techniques and the integration of advanced technologies like GNSS and multibeam sonar. The paper also discusses the challenges identified in the literature and compares them with current insights, offering recommendations for future research and practical applications in marine bathymetric mapping.
