Air quality monitoring systems: Technologies, trends, and future directions
Author(s): Udit Narayan Das
Abstract: The air quality monitoring systems are essential for measuring and controlling the air pollutants to ensure environmental and human health safety. Air quality monitoring systems consist of technologies that can range from conventional sensors to advanced networks for real-time data gathering and remote data interpretation. Recent trends in air quality monitoring systems are influenced by sensor technology innovations and data-based connectivity, which enable advancements in measurement accuracy and spatial deployment. However, the air quality monitoring system still faces various challenges such as calibration and supply limitations that affects the deployment and reliability of the system. Future directions of air quality monitoring systems will influence the evolution of sensing technologies and policies to integrate with the effectiveness of air quality monitoring systems to address future environmental requirements.
