Green entrepreneurship education for sustainable development in Nigeria

Abstract: Green entrepreneurship is a paradigm shifting concept from everyday entrepreneurship. It inculcates values of business and enterprise in harmony with equity and the environment. This study identifies green entrepreneurship as very vital for achieving sustainable development and sustainable economic growth in Nigeria. Climate change is presently a burning issue of global concern requiring urgent attention. This study identifies the role and benefits of green entrepreneurship in addressing the challenge of climate change in Nigeria. It further identifies the role and benefits of green entrepreneurship education across communities and institutions to enhance their effectiveness and efficiency for sustainable economic growth and development in Nigeria. This study further seeks to draw the attention of policy makers in government, private sectors, non-governmental organizations, educationists and entrepreneurs to the role of green entrepreneurship education for sustainable development in Nigeria. Through literature review and participant observation, this study proves to be very timely and significant, as it explores new opportunities, practices and policies for green entrepreneurship education for sustainable development in Nigeria.
