Obstacles in adapting to new water usage standards in thermal power plants

Abstract: This study examines the challenges thermal power plants face in adapting to stricter water consumption regulations aimed at reducing environmental impact. By analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data from 30 different plants, we identify key technological, operational, and financial barriers to compliance. The findings underscore the complex balance required between maintaining operational viability and enhancing environmental sustainability in power generation.
